Speaking at the Orpheum, A Dream Fulfilled
Well friends, it happened, I had the most important speaking event of my career. And it was more than I even could have imagined.
Picture this! You are asked to speak at a private event at the Orpheum in Los Angeles. One of Los Angeles' most historic theaters. It's a huge stage, bright lights, with huge implications for me. It’s a dream that I have dreamed of for days, weeks, months and YEARS!!! It was my reminder that dreams can come true. That your dreams and goals matter, no matter what anyone else thinks.
I think about the amount of times I almost gave up. I almost “hung it up”. I let others' opinions and voices take over my mind. And although I did let those consume me. I did not let them become my narrative. (this is the hardest part). I kept my mind focused on my goals. I kept my why in front of me. And i continue to do that today.
If you're feeling stuck or thinking about giving up, I've got a few things I want to share that might help.
1. Keep Pushing Through Uncertainty: Life is full of surprises, and things don't always go as planned. When you feel like throwing in the towel, remember that tough times don't last forever. Push through the uncertainty, and you might just find a breakthrough on the other side.
2. Trust Your Gut: Amidst all the noise and opinions, trust your own instincts. You know yourself better than anyone else does. Don't let other people's doubts drown out your inner voice. Your dreams are worth believing in.
3. Embrace the Journey: Success isn't a straight line. There will be ups and downs, and that's okay. Embrace the journey, learn from your experiences, and use them to grow. Each step, no matter how small, gets you closer to your goal.
4. Keep Your Why in Sight: Remember why you started this journey in the first place. Let that reason be your guiding light when things get tough. Your 'why' can fuel your determination and help you stay on track.
5. Lean on Your Community: Surround yourself with people who support your dreams. Having a network of friends, family, or mentors who believe in you can make a world of difference. They can provide encouragement and advice when you need it most.
So, my friends, as I look back on my unforgettable experience at the Orpheum, I encourage you to stay strong, no matter the challenges. Dreams are more than just fantasies – they're the building blocks of our future. As I stand here, grateful for the journey that brought me to this point, I'm excited for what lies ahead. Remember, you've got the power to turn your dreams into reality. Keep going!
And you know me, I will always be your hype girl over here cheering you on!
