Discover the Morning Routine that Sets the Tone for Success

Last week I shared with you some things to help you get through this crazy time in life and business when things feel out of control.  And it resonated with so many of you.  I thought I would share a simple Saturday message today about what I do on a daily basis that helps ground me, and get me going when I feel stuck.

I think it is so important to have a solid daily routine.  One that you do everyday, that helps you center yourself and get you motivated for your day. I’ve found that this little routine helps me start my day off in a positive and motivated space.

First thing, I set my alarm early enough to have quiet time! For me that is somewhere between 5:30 and 6 am!  Yes, I know that may be early for some, and not realistic for all, but that is why I say early enough to have quiet time. For some of you that could be 8 in the morning!!

I hop right on my Peloton, and you know that if you follow along on my stories daily. I use that time to sweat, and focus. Yup, that little 20 minute daily routine really helps me get focused for the day.  I don’t overdo it, or take a ton of time, just a quick 20 minute workout to get my endorphins going and set my energy for the day.

Then I make my favorite cup of coffee from my favorite coffee machine.  I’m a Nespresso girl! I love the taste of it, and it comes out perfect every time.  My favorites are the Stormio pods!!!

And here is the point in the morning where I think it makes all the difference.  Before I look at my phone or dive into my email I get out my journal.  I don’t use a guided journal or one with prompts, I created my own little morning routine.  I start with a blank page, yup, no matter how much I wrote the day before I start with a blank page. It’s like a fresh start to the day.

I start with Gratitude.  Starting each day with a grateful heart can change your mindset in an instant. I choose 3 things I am grateful for, and usually it’s things from the day before.  Something that happened in my day, or maybe a lesson I learned.  Someone I saw, or a conversation I had.  I don’t overthink it, and sometimes it’s just “a good night's sleep”, or the “hot cup of coffee in my hand”.

  • Affirmation Statements:  Now I use these as “goals” but I write them in an affirmative way. So instead of “I will” or “I want to”, I put “I am” as if they have already happened!!!  For example, I have a dream and goal of writing a book one day, so I write in my list of affirmations “I am an author” every day!!!!!  I remember when I was focused on getting in shape and losing a ton of weight. I remember writing down “I am a size 6” and I remember thinking there is NO WAY I will ever get there. But you know what before you know it I did, and I no longer have to write that statement anymore!!!  I choose to write 5 of these but you can write as many as you want.

  • Set my intentions for the day, set my mindset.   This is where I just freely write. Sometimes its my plan for the day, a mindset I need to adopt, motivation or inspiring words for me to get through something hard that day.  It can be anything. Sometimes it's brainstorming content, or a simple to do list.  It really is whatever flows to me!!!

Most days, not all I pick up the latest biz book I am reading and read one chapter.  I don’t try to read too much, I get overwhelmed, so I focus on one chapter a day!

And from there, that is when I pick up my phone, turn on Good Morning America, get caught up on the day's headlines, and check in with my faves on Instagram!

I’m here to encourage you to create whatever morning routine that works for you.  But I am a firm believer that having one is crucial to your mindset and productivity!
