The Alternative to Worry

Most of you know I come from the real estate industry.  And although I am passionate about teaching and training business owners of all types and industries, I am still at my core a real estate broker.  And I love what I do, and the industry I serve.

If you are in the real estate space, you know there are a lot of things going on right now that are affecting agents of all types, sizes, and locations.  From lawsuits, to the DOJ, to the internal culture of the National Association of REALTORS®.  It’s A LOT!  Trust me I know.  I feel it too.  

I came across this post this week on Instagram from @businessmindset101 and it really made me think. 

“Instead of worrying about what you can’t control, focus on what you can create”.  It made me think real hard and I want you to think hard too.  So much of what is happening is OUT of the control of the everyday real estate agent at home.  You can’t control the lawsuits, you can’t control the DOJ and you certainly cannot control what is going on inside our industry walls.  

BUT......

What you can control is your reaction to it, and what you can create!  And what do I mean by create? You are probably thinking, “Barb, what the heck can I create?” 

You can create a lot my friend. 
You can create a new mindset for yourself. 
You can create a new business plan for 2024. 
You can create a new stream of income. 
You can create new relationships, and new friendships. 
You can create so much, because only you are in control of one thing in life, YOU and your DECISIONS.  

I for one am in create mode.  Although I am hyper involved in our industry at a local, state and national level, there is still so much I cannot control.  I cannot control the actions and decisions of others.  But I can create “influence”, positive influence of those that surround me, follow me, and engage with me.  I can create messages that are positive and inspirational.  I can create solutions. I can create a new narrative for my life and business. 

What I want you to create is YOUR OWN narrative for your life.  You are the author and creator of your own story and you have no choice but to make it a good one. 

I leave you this Saturday morning of a long holiday weekend with this request.  Instead of worrying about things that are OUT of your control, take some time today, or tomorrow, and really think about what you want to CREATE, for your own life and business.  Lay out an action plan for the rest of the year that will absolutely set the course for 2024.  Sometimes it’s okay to STOP what you are currently doing, wipe the slate clean and CREATE something new!
