It’s Time to Get Involved

One of the top questions I get asked from my fellow REALTORS® is, “Barb, why do you volunteer so much?”. And I LOVE when people ask me this because I get to share something so important to me and hopefully open my colleague’s eyes to what’s happening in our Real Estate community.

First and foremost, I love our Industry and our profession. Real Estate has been SO good to me, my family, and our business, and I feel compelled to give back.

And hey, someone has to do it!

We all know that this business is about relationships. The people I have met throughout my journey at the local, state, and national levels have influenced my business and life. I’ve even met some of my best friends though volunteering across the country!

But… Did you know that NAR was pivotal in getting independent contractors included in the PPP funds we saw last year? OR did you know that C.A.R continues to push back on policies that aren’t favorable to California property owners and our businesses?

These are the issues that the fantastic volunteers I serve with take care of so we can make huge, beneficial differences in your business and your clients lives! Imagine what it could look like if MORE people like YOU were involved.

Getting involved in organized Real Estate has made me a better REALTOR® and an even better Broker.

From MLS updates to Code of Ethics changes, or even policy reform in our State or Washington D.C, I’m able to bring everything we discuss back to my office and teach both my agents and my clients about what is coming ahead.

I know volunteering is not for everyone. However, if you’ve never explored or stepped into the world of organized Real Estate, I highly encourage you to do so.

Start small: find your local association, join a committee and attend your association’s meetings. Follow your passions and find the niche you want to serve. I will always campion anyone who wants to get involved - there is room for all of us!

So as we wrap up our 2022 C.A.R State Meetings and head to our NAR Legislative Meetings in DC, I want you to know that I love every single one of you that I’ve met though my leadership and volunteer journey, and I treasure our relationships.

And if you’re feeling like this work could be for you? I usher you to take the next step and join a committee or attend your local events.

We need YOU!
