Flipping the Script on Imposter Syndrome
Let’s get real for a second—have you ever stepped into a room, onto a stage, or into a new role and thought, I don’t belong here? That creeping feeling of doubt, the voice whispering, Who am I to do this? Yeah, that’s imposter syndrome. And guess what? It only shows up when you’re stepping into something bigger.
For years, we’ve been told that imposter syndrome is something to overcome, something to beat back like a bad habit. But I’ve realized we’ve been looking at it all wrong. Imposter syndrome isn’t a stop sign. It’s a green light.
It’s a signal that you’re growing, stretching, and evolving into a new version of yourself. It only shows up when you’re stepping into new territory—whether it’s a new leadership role, a bigger stage, or a new challenge in life or business.
Think about it: Have you ever felt imposter syndrome when you were just coasting? Probably not. It doesn’t show up when you’re playing it safe. It shows up when you’re leveling up.
In this week’s Relationships Are Your Superpower podcast, I’m sharing how I’ve experienced imposter syndrome in some of the biggest moments of my life—becoming a teenage mom, navigating hair loss, stepping into leadership roles—and how I’ve learned to flip the script. Instead of seeing it as a reason to doubt myself, I now see it as proof that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
I want you to do the same. The next time imposter syndrome sneaks in, don’t ask, Do I belong here? Instead, ask:
👉 How much further can I go?
You’re not an imposter. You’re expanding. You’re stretching. You’re stepping into something bigger. That feeling of discomfort? That’s growth knocking at your door.
Let’s reframe it together.
