It's been a WEEK!
Oh my goodness - it has been a week! I am so excited to finally be sitting down, taking a breath and checking in with YOU.
How are you?
How was your week?!
Did you get everything done? Have the most productive week ever? Solve all the worlds problems and hit every goal on the way?
Or were you like me and took an unexpected, but absolutely necessary mid-week break?
If you follow along on my Social Media - you saw that on Thursday I hosted a five hour legal webinar…. FIVE hours! And even though I had a full day planned, my brain was toast after getting offline.
And, between you and I, everything that was left on my Thursday afternoon task list - was pushed straight to Friday.
I was DONE with the day. My brain was short firing. I needed a break.
So, I gave myself one. I allowed myself to turn my brain off and REST.
And I’m so glad I did - because I would NOT have been producing my best work if I tried to “push through”.
Instead, I rested and recouped - then came back ready to kick butt Friday morning. And guess what? I got it all done.
But the ONLY way I was able to allow myself a mid week break, was because I PLAN for it.
I plan for the unknown, by staying on top of my schedule. I plan for the “little disasters” throughout the week by time blocking my tasks and staying organized. I plan for LIFE happening because it’s all about being productive, never BUSY.
And It’s all about knowing your priorities and making sure they’re on your Calendar.
Because if it's NOT on your CALENDAR, it's NOT a PRIORITY.
How many times have you been in a similar situation - where an early morning event or task just completely wiped you out? And you NEEDED to take a break?
It happens to the best of us!
Although scheduling out your daily, weekly, or monthly calendar may not seem like the most exciting activity, it is absolutely essential for those of us who strive to maintain peak productivity levels.
This goes beyond just setting up meetings or booking appointments; it applies to every aspect of your life.
How often have you promised to follow up with someone tomorrow, only to forget about it completely until later in the week, leaving you feeling guilty?
How many times have you realized that you haven't worked on lead generation in ages, even though you know it's important for your business?
And how many times have you missed important family events or appointments because they slipped your mind?
We all make mistakes, but by setting up calendar alerts and reminders, we can greatly reduce the chances of these slip-ups occurring. By prioritizing the right tasks and developing a productive mindset, rather than just staying busy, we can achieve much more than we ever thought possible.
By making sure we're getting our priorities done ON TIME, we can give ourselves the wiggle room to rest when its absolutely necessary.
I used to think freedom was not following a schedule, by being a "free spirit". But freedom is actually found in being strict with yourself, and getting what needs to be done, actually done - so you can be free to spend your time as you please.
And guess what, you deserve that freedom and your business deserves does too.
So - how are you going to shift your priorities this week? How are you going to make sure you not only get what needs to get done, DONE - but that you do it while taking care of yourself too?
*HINT HINT* - the answer is Time Blocking, friend.
