🎾 Keeping it real (even when things don't go as planned)
You know how we're always chatting about being true to ourselves? Well, I just came across a story that really hit home, and I had to share it with you.
🎾 Remember Coco Gauff, that amazing tennis player? Well, her journey at the 2024 US Open didn't quite go as expected, but wow, did she ever show us what it means to be real and authentic!
So here's what happened: Coco, who was the defending champion, lost in the fourth round to Emma Navarro. It wasn't her best day on the court - she had a whopping 19 double faults and 60 unforced errors. Ouch, right? 😬 But here's where it gets interesting...
After the match, instead of making excuses or hiding her disappointment, Coco faced the press with honesty and grace. She admitted she didn't take care of her serve and that it was the biggest difference in the match. She even opened up about considering getting other opinions to help her improve.
But what really got me was how she put it all in perspective. She said, “I feel like there's, like, 70 other players in the draw that would love to have the summer that I had even though it's my least [I’ve] probably done well during this time of the year. So many people want to be in the fourth round. So many people want to make the Olympics. So many people want to be flagbearer. It's perspective.” 🏆
Isn't that just so powerful? Here's why I think this matters:
Being real means owning both our victories and our setbacks. Coco didn't shy away from her struggles. 💪
Authenticity helps us keep perspective. Even in disappointment, Coco recognized the positives in her journey. 🌈
True strength isn't about never failing - it's about how we handle those failures and learn from them. 🌟
It got me thinking about how often we try to put on a brave face when things don't go our way. But maybe there's more power in being honest about our struggles and still holding our head high? 🤔
So, I've got a little challenge for us: How about we practice being more open about our not-so-perfect moments? Let's try sharing both our wins and our "learning experiences" (that's what I'm calling my mess-ups these days 😉).
Remember, you're amazing just as you are - triumphs, stumbles, and all. Being real about both is what makes you, YOU. 💖
