Whew – What a few weeks in been in our Industry.
From the Feds raising rates… to everything happening in the banking world (which yes, definitely applies to us!) there has been quite a lot to feel stressed about.
To worry about. To spend our time thinking about.
In my weekly Tuesday meeting with my entire Brokerage we dissected everything happening. We talked about how it would affect us, our businesses and our clients.
We strategized game plans and how we could stay prepared and ahead of whatever is coming our way.
The best defense is always a good offense! It is always better to be ready and prepared for “bad news” than to be caught by the seat of your pants.
But while we were discussing everything going on, and sharing our stresses and anxieties about it – one of my Agents brought up an amazing point and shared it with our team.
Everything happening in the “big picture” of our industry right now?
Is out of our control.
There is absolutely NOTHING we can do to stop it. There is no number to call to reach the feds or email to send that can prevent it all from happening.
There is no magic gameplay we can follow that will bring us lower rates, increased inventory, generate more leads…
It’s all out of our control.
BUT what is in our control, is how we handle it.
How we stick to the business plan we made in December of 2022.
How we show up for our clients, and handle our business generating activities.
And that really got me to thinking… that even as we are collectively “slowing down” in our industry – we should be doubling our proficiency and productivity.
I try to look at the silver lining of all situations, even when they seem bleak.
And the silver lining I’m finding right now? Is that we have TIME.
We have time to learn new ways to generate business! We have time to re-evaluate the ways we’ve been tracking leads, building pipelines and even marketing to our clients!
We have time to build new and better systems and strategies that can boost the ways we run our businesses.
We have time to show up for ourselves in ways that will pay off in the long run, rather than just having time to focus on the things immediately in front of us.
All in all friend, there is a LOT happening in the world right now, and in our industry right now.
But I’m here to remind you that we can only control, what we can control.
And while it’s imperative to always stay informed and up to date on what’s happening in the world around us – it’s IMPORTANT to keep our heads down, keep working on our businesses, keep showing up for our clients and keeping calm.
No matter the headlines – we will be OKAY.
